I-44 bike trail – Route has been approved

On August 27, 2014 the MAPS-3 trails subcommittee approved a $13.8 million plan to develop a trail from Lake Hefner to the Oklahoma River. Detailed design will completed and construction will start next year.

The trail starts at the Lake Hefner trail parking lot at NW Expressway and Meridian. It follows Meridian south, across 63rd, then east to Portland. Then south to 56th street, east to I-44/Grand Blvd. and south to 50th.


It crosses 50th, then south to cross 39th ( Rt. 66 ) at the light at St. Clair. Then east on 38th.


Cross 36th and ride nest to Will Rogers park. there will be a new parking lot near the trail. Continue south past 23rd.


The trail crosses to the east side of I-44 at 16th, then south into the Fairgrounds. The trail will pass around the fairgrounds along 10th and south on May.




The trail will cross Reno and May and end up at the river on the north side. A new parking lot will be added there.
