Geezers Go On “Okies Do UpNorth” Tour

Posted by on Jul 29, 2011 in Geezer Tour Reports | 0 comments

For their spring 2011 Geezers Tour, the Geezers latched onto an invitation to go on the “Okies Do UpNorth” tour. The UpNorth tour was organized by Leann Burger. When she lived in Pryor, Leann was heavily involved in bicycling in the Claremore/Pryor area. She had also participated in the Cannon’s OBS Grand Tour in Wisconsin and the Geezer’s Tour of the Missouri Katy Trail. Her husband, Roger became associated with the Manistee, Michigan power company, and they moved to nearby Onekama (O-nek – a- ma). This area is in the North Woods and on the...

By Fred Kamp The OBS Touring Geezers are back from their 2009 Fall Tour in Xenia, OH. This is the eleventh year of Geezers Tours since Jim Foreman led the first Tour down the Mississippi from Memphis to Vicksburg. Ohio Trails had been nominated by Cynthia Wade after a discussion with a man on her annual mission trip to Haiti. There were no other nominations. The Xenia Trails had been nominated by John Shenk several years ago, but lost out to another location. Consideration was given to incorporating trails south of Cleveland with the Xenia...

Those participating included OBS founder Red Callaway and his wife, Dorothy Wilson. We were greatly helped by experienced recent Trail riders Leann Burger, new OBS member from Pryor, Larry and Betty Menz, and Joe and Rita Bauman. The rest included some people with Trail experience and some without. They were Jim and Joanna Gregg, Gary Ingram, Fred and Bonnie Kamp, Dwayne...

Geezers Spring Tour 2008

Posted by on May 23, 2008 in Geezer Tour Reports | 0 comments

By Fred Kamp Photos by John Shenk The Geezers are back from their 2008 Spring Tour, May 17 – 22, in Cleburne, TX. Cleburne is a town of about 30,000 people about 30 miles SW of Ft. Worth and about 15 miles west of the Alvarado exit on I-35W. The riding was based upon the annual Goatneck Tour which goes west from Cleburne to the little town of Glen Rose and back via another route. This loop produces a metric century. The Tour also has several shorter loops. The Geezers used various pieces of that Tour. In addition, a ride east from...

Posted by on Apr 15, 2007 in Geezer Tour Reports | 0 comments

The Geezers voted to have two Spring Tours in 2007: the first to Lafayette, LA for Mardi Gras, and the second to Fredericksburg, TX for the blooming of the Bluebonnets. This is the report of the second Tour. The participants in this lightly attended Tour were: ride leaders Tom & Karen Russell and tourers Fred & Bonnie Kamp, John & Kay Shenk, and Steve & Cynthia Wade. The objective of this Tour was to ride amongst the Bluebonnets. You always roll the dice in hitting the right time to view the Bluebonnets. We did a pretty good...
