Two state parks bracket Lake Eufaula, Oklahoma’s largest lake, and offer cyclists an unusual opportunity to tour a part of rural Oklahoma that has only recently been discovered by tourists. Both parks offer visitors a wide variety of facilities ranging from lodges to cabins, RV camping to secluded tent areas and four star restaurants to mom and pop hamburger stands. From Fountainhead State Park, a 62-mile loop around the east end of the lake is a favorite among cyclists who are seeking a fall foliage tour through oak trees dressed in golden leaves. Arrowhead State Park offers a slightly shorter route around the southern branch of the lake. One will find an ample number of rest stops in the form of convenience stores, marinas and rural villages along both routes.
