Spring Fling

Spring Fling 2016

Where:  Arbuckle Lake – Buckhorn Landing Campground
When:  April 30-May 1
What:  Ride Saturday morning 47 miles
Breakfast ride Sunday morning 20 miles

The Spring Fling Thing is going to be at Arbuckle Lake once again.  For those who want to camp, we will be staying at Buckhorn Landing.  To get there take I-35 south to the Davis-Sulphur exit Hwy 7 and go east to Sulphur.  You will go to the east side of Sulphur and turn right on Hwy 177 (it will appear that you are entering the Chickasaw National Recreation Area and you are).  Go about 5 miles and there will be a sign indicating Buckhorn Landing.  Turn right and follow the signs to the campsite. [map to campsite]

The date of the ride is April 12-13 although I will be there April 10, Thursday evening.  If camping out is a bit closer to nature than you care to get, there are numerous motels and cabins in Davis and Sulphur.  The ride will depart the campground at 9:00 a.m. Saturday unless the weather dictates otherwise.  The ride Saturday is about 47 miles with shorter options.

We will have the fantastic OBS potluck dinner Saturday night, so bring something to share and a hearty appetite.  There is no particular theme for the potluck, just bring something and I’m sure we will eat it.  Do not forget to bring your own plate and utensils.  Sunday morning we will depart on the breakfast ride at about 8:00 a.m. and ride to restaurant in Sulphur for breakfast.  The breakfast ride is about 20 miles.  If there are any questions you can contact me at 354-8412 or email gacan@aol.com.

If you would like to view the area online go to http://www.nps.gov/chic/planyourvisit/loa.htm.  Once again the campground we will be using is Buckhorn Landing Loop D.  Tent camping is $14.00 per night and RV sites are $22.00 and $24.00 per night.  Seniors will receive a 50% discount but be sure you have a federal SeniorsPass.

And remember; do not worry about the weather.  The national weather service has assured me we can expect normal spring weather for Oklahoma.  Hope to see you there.
