Weekly Rides

The Oklahoma Bicycle Society rates rides for the terrain of the route and the expected average speed of the ride. The ride ratings are located at the end of each ride description and consists of the combination of a number and letter. These are defined in the table below. Ride leaders will provide on-site information and routes at each ride.

Saturday Rides

“NEW” PRE-DONUT RIDE 7:20 AM during Daylight Saving Time only
Starts at Will Rogers Park (near NW 39th and Portland). Goes around Lake Overholser and back to Will Rogers Park in time for the Donut Ride (see below).  Approx. 18 miles.

This ride provides opportunities for a wide spectrum of riders.  It consists of three rides:

  1. The Leisure Ride goes to Brown’s Bakery at NW 10th and Walker, an 11 mile round trip. It is designed for entry-level or family riders.  The ride leader adjusts the group speed to that of the slowest rider.  A scenic route is used but is adjusted to fit the abilities of the riders.
  2. The Brown’s Ride also goes to Brown’s Bakery but at a faster pace than the Leisure Ride. A companion may be assigned to show the route to a first time rider.
  3. The Kamp’s Ride goes to Kamp’s 1910 Café at 10 NE 10th. There is an opportunity to eat breakfast. The ride then divides into a variety of longer rides.  It is designed for riders above entry-level.  The ride leader assigns companions to help show the route to first time riders.

Starts 1/4 mile north of NW 122nd and Rockwell. Groups at intermediate to fast pace (18-20 mph) for 40-50 miles.

FLOATING CRAPGAME RIDE 9:00 AM Nov-Mar only
Departure and destination rotate each week. Click here for the normal start location schedule.. Casual to moderate pace (13-15 mph) for 20-35 miles. Emphasis on socializing. Usually stop for brunch during or at end of ride. No-Drop policy. Click here for an article on clothing for winter riding.

EDMOND TUESDAY CASUAL RIDE 6:16 PM Tuesday (Apr-Sep)  [MAP]

Starts in Hafer Park in the parking lot as soon as you enter from 9th & Bryant. This is for people who are new to cycling, want to try out their new bikes or simply want a break from the norm. Our pace is between 8-11 mph (no faster) and we ride about 10-13 miles. It is definitely a leisurely adult ride.

TUESDAY NIGHT TRIKES! 6:30 PM Tuesday (Apr-Sep) [MAP]

Starts at SNU/BHS Football Stadium South Parking Lot (50th & Stinchcomb, west of Council) to West River Trail to Crystal Lake and back.  Average 10-12 MPH. May have a group that rides a little faster and goes to Meridian and back. We regroup at 10th Street and Crystal Lake.

Even though this ride promotes trikes, everybody is welcome!

OVERHOLSER EVENING RIDE 6:00 PM Wednesday Apr-Sep [MAP]
Route 66 Park on the west side of the lake. There are usually four or five groups: Fast paceline ride (20 + mph) 25-35 miles, medium pace (16-18 mph) 22-30 miles, moderate pace (13-15 mph) 18-22 miles and relaxed pace (10-12 mph) 8-16 miles. Medium, moderate and relaxed pace ride regroups as necessary and have No-Drop policy.

Meets at the Lake Overholser Boat House/Cafe (just north of NW 30th Street). Ride around the lake and then stop for breakfast at the Big Buffalo Grill. Ride for fun and exercise. No monitoring of heart rates allowed.
